Definition
A deposit is a partial payment the patient makes in advance to reserve a procedure or treatment date. In medical tourism it's usually taken after the treatment plan is accepted and before flights and accommodation are booked.
The deposit is the clearest conversion signal in the sales process: the patient has moved from saying "I'm coming" to committing. Many clinics treat it as the stage where the sale is won.
Why it matters for clinics
Tracking deposits as a separate pipeline stage grounds metrics like cost per patient and agent conversion in real data. If the period after the deposit (flights, transfers, hotel, preparation) isn't managed well, cancellations rise. MedicalGrow doesn't take payments; deposit status is tracked with a pipeline stage and custom fields.
Example
The patient pays the deposit; the agent moves the card to "Deposit received" and enters the amount in the relevant field. In reporting, that deposit is credited to the campaign the patient came from, and the coordinator takes over travel planning.
