No-show

A patient who books an appointment and doesn't turn up without letting you know.

Definition

A no-show is a patient who misses an appointment without notice. In medical tourism it applies to online consultations as well as in-clinic examinations and procedure days.

The no-show rate is the share of booked appointments that were missed in a given period, and it's one of the key indicators of how healthy your booking process is.

Why it matters for clinics

Every missed consultation is wasted time for the doctor and coordinator; a no-show on procedure day is a serious loss of revenue. Reminders before the appointment, stating the time clearly in the patient's own time zone, and making rescheduling easy are the most effective ways to reduce no-shows.

Example

A clinic notices that a large share of its online consultations are being missed. It starts confirming appointments in the patient's own time zone and sending an approved reminder template the day before; missed appointments are marked in the calendar and the agent reaches out to reschedule.
